The Larnaca Living Lab focuses on coordinating shared modes with public transport, co-designing mobility hub infrastructure and integrating new mobility into public transport ticketing systems.
A major challenge is the high dependency on private cars, which account for 82% of daily trips, due to cultural behaviours and high car ownership.
Interventions include parking restrictions, restricted zones, the introduction of e-scooters, the integration of shared modes into public transport and the development of a Mobility as a Service (MaaS) system.
Marketing will involve influencers promoting the MaaS service, and MOBYapp data will track citizens’ journeys for evaluation. LPT manages the MaaS service, while CUNISA develops the platform and MOBY identifies user needs and monitors travel behaviour.
